Canyons & Mountains

A website of
Highs and Lows

From steeply uplifted areas of land we know as mountains to deep valleys or gorges called canyons, each area is often carved by wind, rain or rivers and has quite an impact on our landscape.
Most canyons were formed by a process of long-time erosion from a plateau level.

Our mountains are landforms that extend above the surrounding terrain in a limited area. Most of the world's rivers are fed from mountain sources, and more than half of humanity depends on mountains for water

Invisible Mountains!
Technically, some of the worlds largest mountains are under the oceans and cannot be seen by most humans.

Canyons and Mountains can be very dangerous places. Some mountains have had massive landslides such as Turtle Mountain which collapsed causing what is known as the Frank Slide in Southern, Alberta Canada. The town of Frank was 3/4 crushed along with at least 76 people.

Beware of avalanches and landslides in the mountains and flash flooding in the canyons.

Treat these areas with respect.

Canyon & Mountain Facts:
