The Grand Teton National Park is located in northwestern Wyoming, where you will find pristine lakes and extraordinary wildlife among these majestic mountains. The abrupt vertical rise of the jagged Teton Range contrasts with the horizontal sage-covered valley and glacial lakes at their base.

Grand Teton is the highest mountain within Grand Teton National Park, rising to an altitude of 13,770 feet (4,197 m).

The Grand Teton can also be skied in the winter. The first person to descend on skis was Bill Briggs, noted as the first to ski the Grand Teton on June 16, 1971.

This world-renowned scenery attracts nearly four million visitors per year.

Temperatures in the area range from the high 70's in July and August to well below freezing in the winter months.

Canyon & Mountain Facts:

Climates change rapidly on mountains, becoming colder the higher the altitude gets. This happens because as altitude increases, air becomes thinner and is less able to absorb and retain heat.
